Samsung recently announced new software update with base firmware XXDMG1 for the users of Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (GT-I9500) in few countries. This firmware update is still dependent upon Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.

The new official firmware is right now accessible as an Over-The-Air (OTA) upgrade and through Samsung KIES. In any case, those who missed the OTA update notification or unable to enter the update over Samsung KIES can download and fix the same manually, using our step by step guide.

And today, we will be guiding you through the entire process of updating your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to the latest Android 4.1.2 software update.
The update is currently released in numerous Asian countries only, namely India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. And is expected to roll out to the rest, pretty soon.

Prerequisites:

Before you proceed with the update process, below are some prerequisite procedures to follow:

  • Make sure that your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has at least 80% of battery backup.
  • Make sure that your computer has all the drivers for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 installed. Else download it from here.
  • Download the ODIN zip file from here.
  • Download Firmware zip from below, according to your country:
    India
    Nepal
    Sri Lanka
    Bangladesh

How To Update Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to Official Jelly Bean :

Below is the detailed tutorial on how to update your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to the Official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean:

  1. Extract firmware zip and Odin zip file that you download from above both links.
  2.  Power off your phone. Hold up 6-7 seconds until vibration, to confirm complete switch off
  3. Boot the device into Download Mode by pressing and holding Volume Down, Home and Power buttons together until a construction Android robot icon with a caution triangle appears on screen. Now press the Volume Up button to enter Download Mode.
  4.  Rune Odin in your computer.
  5. Connect the Galaxy Note 2 to the computer by USB cable while it is in the Download Mode. Wait until Odin detects the device.
  6. Choose the following files in Odin from extracted N7100XXDMG1 firmware folder by using respective checkboxes:
    Select the PDA checkbox, and choose the file named .Tar or .md5.
    Click the Phone checkbox, and choose the file with ‘modem’ in its name .
    Click the CSC checkbox, and select the file with ‘CSC’ in its name.
    Choose the PIT checkbox, and choose the .Pit file.
    If the above three files are not found, omit the above step.
  7.  In Odin, enable Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checkboxes. Likewise, ensure the Re-Partition checkbox is chosen only if a .Pit file was chosen in the previous step.
  8.   Verify whether every process is done correctly.
  9. And now, click the START button to start the installation process
  10.  Once the installation process is finished, your phone will restart and a PASS message with a green background in the leftmost box at the very top of the Odin.
  11. Now, disconnect your Smartphone from your computer.
