How To Install Cyanogenmod and Upgrade Samsung Galaxy Note To Android Jellybean 4.2.2 or 4.3

Android 4.3 JellyBean is the latest software release from Google’s Android. The Android 4.3 update has just begin to roll out, and initially has only hit Google Nexus lineup of devices.

But sadly some Smartphones has not even received the Android 4.2.2 update. The Samsung Galaxy Note is one among such devices. However, if you own a Samsung Galaxy Note, then you can update your Smartphone to Android 4.2.2 JellyBean or to the latest Android 4.3 JellyBean by simply installing Cyanogenmod build custom ROM on to your Smartphone.

And today, we’re here with a simple and detailed tutorial on how you can upgrade your Samsung Galaxy Note to the Android version 4.2.2 or 4.3 by installing Cyanogenmod custom ROM.

Warnings:

Below are some warning information that you should know before attempting to root and install Cyanogenmod on your Samsung Galaxy Note:

  • Rooting and installing custom ROM on an Android device is an un-authorized process. And after you root your device and install a custom ROM, you’ll no longer receive any official firmware or software updates.
  • We are not responsible in case you brick or damage your Smartphone in between or after completing the rooting process. Hence, proceed at your own risk.
  • Rooting your Android device will void its warranty. And hence, after rooting your Android device, you’ll no longer enjoy any kinds of warranty benefits over your device.

Prerequisites:

Below are some prerequisite procedures to follow before attempting to root your Samsung Galaxy Note and install Cyanogenmod custom ROM:

  • Create a backup of your entire Smartphone including contacts, songs, pictures and any other important files.
  • Enable USB Debugging on your Samsung Galaxy Note. You can enable it by going through Settings> Apps> Development> and tick the USB Debugging checkbox.
  • Now install the USB Drivers for Samsung Galaxy Note on your computer from here.
  • Make sure that your Samsung Galaxy Note has at least 80% of battery backup.
  • Make sure that your Samsung Galaxy Note is factory unlocked. This guide should not be followed on a factory locked device.

How To Install CWM Recovery On Samsung Galaxy Note:

Below is the detailed tutorial on how to install CWM recovery on a Samsung Galaxy Note:

  • First of all, download the CWM Recovery kit from here.
  • And now, download the ODIN kit from here.
  • Now switch off your Samsung Galaxy Note.
  • And now, boot into download mode by pressing Volume Down+Power+Home keys at the same time.
  • Now connect your Samsung Galaxy Note to the computer.
  • And now, extract and run the ODIN kit that you downloaded earlier.
  • Once the ODIN loads up completely, click on the PDA button and choose the CWM Recovery.tar.md5 file which can be extracted from the CWM Recovery kit that you downloaded earlier.
  • Now, only check mark the “Auto-Reboot” and “F.Reset Time” boxes.
  • Hit the “Start” button from the ODIN and wait for the first box to turn completely green.
  • Now, the installation process will be complete and your phone will start to reboot.
  • Prevent the device from rebooting by taking off the battery. And then re-insert the battery and restart your device.

Now you have successfully installed CWM Recovery on your Samsung Galaxy Note.

How To Upgrade Samsung Galaxy Note To CM 10.1 [Android 4.2.2]:

  • First of all, download the ROM kit from here [link: ] and download the GA-Apps kit from here.
  • Now connect your Samsung Galaxy Note to the computer and copy/paste the ROM kit and the GA-Apps kit to the external SD card of your Samsung Galaxy Note.
  • Now unplug your Samsung Galaxy Note from the computer.
  • Now press the Volume Up+Home+Power keys at the same time to enter the recovery mode.
  • From the recovery mode, do a factory/data reset and wipe cache partition.
  • Now go back to the home screen of the recovery mode and hit the “Install ZIP From SD Card” button.
  • And now, choose the ROM kit that you copied to your external SD card earlier and confirm the selection.
  • Now, the ROM kit will be installed on your Samsung Galaxy Note.
  • Now again, go back and select the GA-Apps kit that you copy/pasted earlier, from your SD card and again confirm the selection.
  • Now the GA-Apps kit will be installed on your Samsung Galaxy Note.
  • Now, again return back to the home menu of the recovery mode and click on “Reboot System Now”.
  • Your device will now restart.

The restart process might take a while longer than usual, as it’s the first boot after installing the custom ROM. So please be calm.

How To Install CyanogenMod 10.2 [Android 4.3] On Samsung Galaxy Note:

Below is the detailed tutorial on how to install Cyanogenmod 10.2 on Samsung Galaxy Note:

  • Download the ROM kit from here and the GA-Apps kit from here.
  • Now connect your Samsung Galaxy Note to your computer and copy/paste the downloaded zip files to the external SD card of your Samsung Galaxy Note.
  • Now disconnect your Samsung Galaxy Note from the computer.
  • And now, switch off your Smartphone.
  • Now, boot into recovery mode by pressing the Volume Up+Home+Power keys at the same time.
  • And now, from the recovery mode home menu, perform a factory/data reset and wipe the cache partition.
  • Now return back to the home screen of the recovery mode and click on “Install Zip From SD Card” option.
  • And now, select the Root Kit that you copied to your SD card earlier and confirm the selection.
  • The Root Kit will be installed on your Samsung Galaxy Note.
  • And now, choose the GA-Apps kit that you copy/pasted to your SD card earlier and confirm the selection.
  • The GA-Apps kit will now be installed on your Samsung Galaxy Note.
  • Now, again return back to the home menu of the recovery mode and click on “Reboot System Now” option.
  • Your Samsung Galaxy Note will now reboot.

As it’s the first boot after installing the custom ROM, it might take some time longer than usual. So please be patient.
