HTC has just announced a mid-range Android smartphone in the desire series, HTC Desire 501, a smartphone with mid level specifications and a beautiful design, mostly matching the earlier devices in the same series from the company. The Desire 501 has a 4.3 inch capacitive touchscreen with a WVGA display having a screen resolution of 480 x 800 pixels.
The inner core of this smartphone has a dual-core processor clocking at 1.15 GHz and along with that, there is 1GB of RAM supporting the multitasking. The storage that is internally provided is 8GB and there is an option to expand the storage to the maximum of 32GB with the MicroSD card support.
Running the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, the Desire 501 has a user interface powered by the HTC Sense but there is no specific detail about the version of HTC Sense. Camera wise, HTC has included a very neat rear shooter, an 8-megapixel shooter with the F2.0 aperture and the BSI sensor, and it has the LED flash support. The rear camera is capable of capturing videos at HD quality. On the front side, there is a 2.3-megapixel camera for the video calling.
Having a battery capacity of 2100 mAh, the HTC Desire 501 supports the 3G connectivity as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and the GPS location tracker. Although the specs, this smartphone won’t be the lone best in this category, as Motorola is soon going to launch the Moto G smartphone with similar specs and a competitive pricing.
The price of HTC Desire 501 is Rs. 16890 in the Indian market, a little high at price when compared to the other smartphones from various brands having similar specifications.
