The Gionee Elife E6 is the latest Android flagship smartphone from Gionee, and it comes with the best specs in the market competing the big brands, but the pricing is not that high. Priced at Rs. 22999 the Gionee Elife E6 comes with a 5-inch Full HD display, and a Quad-core processor along with 2GB of RAM. Something totally new in this smartphone is the interface, with Gionee bringing out a new Amigo interface which make sit look like the iOS, where you don’t get to see any app drawers, and everything is directly on the home screens.
Some other specifications of this smartphone include the 13-megapixel rear camera with the LED flash, which can do a 1080p Full HD video recording, and there’s a good 5-megapixel camera on the front side. The internal storage with which the device comes with, is 32 GB and there is no option to expand it, and the Elife E6 comes with a unibody where there is only one SIM card slot on the side.
For me, the Amigo interface is a disappointment. It has taken inspiration from Apple and removed the app drawer and you get to see all the installed apps on the home screen, with no room for the actual widgets. Another real big disappointment for those who were actually thinking to have a phone with good battery – this comes with a 2000 mAh battery capacity, which doesn’t look real good and Gionee actually came up with a Mini version of the Elife E6 which has got a 3000 mAh battery capacity.
The touch response is excellent, and a lot of internal pages are quite like the Android Stock ROM, but the lock screen looks quite good with the fading away effect when you reach the home screen. The default browser, named the UC browser is very easy to use with a lot of shortcuts included already.
The connectivity options included in the Gionee Elife E6 are the 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth etc. but there’s no Wi-Fi direct for the direct transfer of files. Running the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS, the Elife E6 has a single Micro-SIM card slot. For the pricing of Rs. 23000 in the Indian market, this smartphone is quite worth it because for these specifications, the big brands would easily sell it for Rs. 35000 as a minimum, and the Gionee Elife E6 is not very bad at performance, but the only issue is the Interface and the battery life.
There’s also a Gionee Elife E6 Mini smartphone which was just listed for sale online in China.
